The Brutal Physics of the Machining Center
Routing moving cables inside a CNC gantry involves a devastating combination of mechanical and chemical assaults:
Severe Drag Chain Torsion: Multi-axis CNC heads don't just bend cables; they twist them. This torsion rapidly snaps the delicate braided shielding inside standard cables, allowing electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the massive spindle motors to corrupt the sensor data.
Cutting Fluid Embrittlement: Synthetic coolants and hydraulic oils are highly aggressive. They leach the plasticizers out of standard PVC cable jackets, causing the cable to turn as stiff as a board. Once stiffened, the next movement of the drag chain shatters the jacket into pieces.
